Design is a story that can be told through the elements we surround ourselves on a daily basis."

My passion for design was evident at an early age, but not in a way that told me Interior Design was the right fit initially. I first began making small crafts with my late aunt. When she came home to visit family it was our thing to always have a craft planned out, she was the one that always embraced my creative side. I was then enrolled in figure skating and found myself choreographing routines and performing for an audience. I believe this is a different form of art, how one’s body moves throughout the space and with the beat of the music while still making it look elegant. My skating career took me to the University of North Dakota where I studied for athletic training, but something was missing, something didn’t feel right. I transferred to South Dakota State University in the fall of 2017 and started taking general courses until I realized I wanted to give interior design a try. Interior design is nothing what I expected but everything I love. It allows me to choreograph people in a space much like skating but in a different way. The psychology behind every decision made interests me and the thought behind every element gives me the story I’ve been searching for.

I assist those seeking design assistance by conveying research-based design and creative thinking. I’ve found that giving a reason behind every element in a design provides an opportunity for each element to tell a story. When these elements come together, they then provide something I like to call The Big Picture. This Big Picture ultimately creates a narrative to those who surround it. It is also an important  social responsibility to ensure sustainable materials and tools are used to create the future of tomorrow.

2019 Student Chapter

Awards Banquet

In the spring of 2019 I was initiated into the Phi Kappa Phi Honors Society which is reserved for the top 7.5% of Juniors. I was also privileged to accept the Francisca Kluckman Scholarship - awarded to students willing to make the world their classroom and study abroad. With that, London and Paris became my classroom in the summer of 2019.

2020 Summer Internship w/ Tandem Design Firm

I'm thrilled that I got the opportunity to work alongside and learn from such talented individuals. Tandem has provided me the foundation of hospitality, casino, and restaurant design. It was particularly amazing to have worked on project binders and see the design intent make its way into reality. Working on binders, organizing the material library, ordering samples, working in AutoCad, redlining construction documents, & participating in weekly meetings w/ a personal trainer were just a few things that Tandem implemented into my summer.

My favorite part about my internship was getting to know the team members and learning something new  from all of them. This goes hand and hand with their philosophy, that design is a product of minds working together...in Tandem.

"We spend 87% of our lives inside buildings. How they are designed really affect how we feel, how we behave. Design is not just a visual thing. It's a thought process. It's a skill. Ultimately, design is a tool to enhance our humanity. It's a frame for life."
