PROJECT DESCRIPTION|

CONCEPT |

Over a 14 week time period, I designed for an expansion of the Brookings Country Club and completed the necessary construction documents. This included the added amenities of a pool, spa, workout facility, pro-shop, lobby, casual dining, formal dining, and guest cabins. Below you will see my final design and final project board downloads.

The concept of “In Motion” is representational of how crucial movement is in our day to day lives. Most often, many of us are rushing through the motions and not taking the time to appreciate the very essence of being in the present. The Brookings Country Clubs “In Motion” Promise is to help put you back into the swing of things. This promise can be seen carried out through the BCC’s par core values; 1. essence of nature, 2. element of escape, and 3. principle of comfort.

LobbyPerspective_edited.png

It is essential that the lobby provides the perfect balance between form and function as it strives to offer a unique experience that creates the best possible first impression while performing a number of crucial tasks.

- Create a sense of community.

- Use way-finding efficiently to enhance users experience.

- Provide unobstructed circulation.

- Provide durable materials to withstand abuse from shoes, boots, and hard-sided luggage.

- Decide where comfortable and less than comfortable seating will be placed.

By definition, a pro-shop is a retail outlet at a golf club, typically run by the resident professional, where golfing equipment is sold or repaired.  The retail section of design is focused on how the interior of the space can help in the process of selling consumer goods or services to consumers.

FORMAL_FINAL_edited.jpg

Fine Dining is a restaurant concept that offers users the finest in food, service, and atmosphere. These experiences are very formal and expensive in taste. Many establishments tend to be simple, understated and luxurious in design. This might go to say that the goal of these businesses is to wow your guests with subtle details and an awe inspiring atmosphere to keep them returning.

Fitness centers are health, recreational, and social facilities geared towards exercise, sports, and other physical activities. Activities include organized, group instructional programs like spinning classes, yoga, and individual fitness opportunities such as cardiovascular training, weight training, and swimming.

Orange is a combination of red’s power and energy and the friendliness and fun of yellow. It represents motivation, positive attitude, change and enthusiasm.

Upon clients request, a pool was added into the workout facility. This added yet another amenity to add to the Brookings Country Clubs experience, widening the target market, and providing a relaxing and rejuvenating environment to all guests.

HaloTherapyPerspective_edited.png

Halotherapy (salt therapy) is an all natural, drug free, holistic therapy done in a controlled air environment kept at a cool temperature around 68 degrees to recreate the natural salt cave microclimate. Some claim that it can aid in treating respiratory conditions such as: Asthma, Chronic Bronchitis, Allergies, Depression, Anxiety, Migraines, Ear + Throat Infections, Skin Conditions

The banquet hall was created with a focus on light neutrals so the users could dress up the place to their liking w/o distraction. There was also a focus on the classic coffered ceiling and sculptured fixtures.

Nature and natural daylight were also enhanced with the multiple windows overlooking the lake.

Hotel guest spend, on average, four waking hours per day at a property (Springer); the bulk of the remaining time is spent sleeping. Half of those waking hours would typically be spent in the guestroom with the other two remaining hours at other amenities that the hotel offers. The utilisation of these guestrooms signifies how critical the design of these rooms alters the perceptions of the users within them. Nowadays, guest bedrooms are no longer just a place to rest. They need to be a multi-functional space - an area to work, dine, relax and sleep.
